Day 1 - 3

Belmond Eagle Island | 2 Nights

Discover a modern, sophisticated sanctuary on a private island at the heart of the Okavango Delta

From Johannesburg, journey to Belmond Eagle Island in the Okavango Delta. Tour the waterways by boat or traditional mokoro canoe. Spot game from the sky on a unique helicopter safari, guided by a local environmentalist.

Enjoy the following experience options during your stay:

Mokoro Canoe Safari

Glide silently on a traditional dugout canoe, a mode of transport used by locals for centuries. Explore the shallow, clear waters, drifting past brilliant waterlilies and papyrus grasses, reaching areas inaccessible by boat. Witness brightly coloured frogs, kingfishers, dragonflies or elephants feasting on the reeds.

Signature Helicopter Safari

Helicopter flights over Botswana are one of life’s big adventures. Experience the Okavango Delta as you have never seen it before. Spot remote, inaccessible lakes and islands as well as an abundance of wildlife from the sky. Additional charges apply.

First Light

Discover the magic of a new day and explore the Okavango Delta as the animal and birdlife first wake up. Head out before dawn by mokoro, encountering swooping African fish eagles and basking crocodiles. Or take to the sky in a helicopter to spot elephants, buffalo and impalas moving across the plains.

You will be equipped with Leica Trinovid 8×42 HD binoculars to see the wildlife with incredible clarity. Or for a truly exceptional experience, book a private guided tour with Leica global ambassador and expert wildlife photographer Marc Stickler. Tours by Marc Stickler must be booked in advance and additional charges apply.

Day 3 - 5

Belmond Khwai River Lodge | 2 Nights

Animal magic meets old-world indulgence.

Witness Africa’s famed Big Five from the dramatic floodplains of Moremi Wildlife Reserve. After an action-packed day, return to the luxury of the Khwai River Lodge to unwind.

Enjoy the following experience options during your stay:

Game Drives

Morning and afternoon game drives depart daily in open land cruisers. Night drives, with spotlights and stargazing presentations, are also available after dinner.

As the lodge is located on a private concession, vehicles are allowed to drive before and after sunset, as well as off road.

Walking Safari

Get closer to the wildlife than ever before on a Khwai River walk with one of our experienced guides. Embrace the spirit of adventure as you trek through the rugged landscape, spotting animal tracks, curious insects, rare plantlife and countless other amazing sights.

Conceal yourself in our private hide, which enjoys elevated views across the Khwai River. It’s the perfect spot to observe the region’s rich variety of birds, including malachite kingfishers and open-billed storks.

Day 5 - 7

Belmond Savute Elephant Lodge | 2 Nights

End your trip here, or explore the elephant-rich Chobe National Park at the Belmond Savute Elephant Lodge. The Dynamic wilderness is home to animals from leopards to klipspringers. Explore baobab groves and ancient Bushmen paintings.

Enjoy the following experience options during your stay:

Game Drives

Early morning and afternoon game drives let you encounter Africa’s largest elephant population. You may also spot lions, wild dogs, leopards, cheetahs and hyenas. Enjoy rare sightings of rock-climbing klipspringers and elegant roan.

Depending on the season, you may also catch the second largest migration of zebra in Africa.

View Bushmen Painting and Baobab Tree

Head out into the bush and find a collection of paintings that will take your breath away. These works by the San Bushmen are thought to be more than 1,500 years old. Then continue on to the amazing baobab grove, a cathedral-like cluster of 13 giant trees that are almost as old as the paintings.

The vast open spaces around Savute make it the perfect place to experience the mesmerising expanse of the African night sky. Use powerful telescopes to witness constellations that you may never have seen before. You’ll also discover how Bushmen used the stars to locate the true south.

End of the journey.
