Day 1

Athens (Piraeus), Greece | Embark

Welcome to Athens!

Athens’ heyday was around 400 years BC, that’s when most of the classical monuments were built. During the Byzantine and Turkish eras, the city decayed into just an insignificant little village, only to become the capital of newly-liberated Greece in 1833. Ahead of the 2004 Olympics, almost the entire infrastructure was transformed: the Metro, trams, new ring roads and viaducts have eased the pressure of the heavy traffic.

The whole coastal stretch from Piraeus to the old Hellenikon airport has been improved with new plantings, viaducts and paths for walking. The Plaka district is becoming more and more popular and it is on the way to catching up with Psyrri, Gazi and Rouf as regards restaurants. Discover the beauties of the Anafiotika district, at the feet of the Acropolis, and visit the ancient village still housed in the midst of the city. In Exarchia, there is still a somewhat in-your-face anarchic atmosphere around the Technical University. Meanwhile, Kolonaki is becoming more and more chic.

Today you will embark on Symphony Cruises by Crystal Cruise to explore from the western culture in Athens until The Rose city of Petra. Enjoy renowned cuisine, exceptional enrichment, sun-soaked verandahs, and the most gracious hospitality at sea.

Day 2

Depart from Athens

Venture through Greece’s largest port city, Piraeus, as you make your way to the cradle of Western culture. Athens has long since been the location of myth and muse, and its ancient heritage is still an incredible source of inspiration.

Day 3

Rhodes, Greece

Rich with natural beauty and colorful history, Rhodes represents one of the most architecturally varied locations in Europe. Hellenistic, Byzantine, Medieval, and Turkish influences intermingle with abundant sunshine and dry air to cast a magnificent light over the island that the ancients dedicated to Apollo, the God of Light. High on a cliff, the ruins of the Temple of Athena sit amidst the beautifully preserved Acropolis at Lindos.

Day 4

Cruising the Mediterranean

Enjoy this day at sea as you travel to your next port of call. This is an opportunity to swim, catch some sun on the deck or take advantage of the many activities that are onboard your ship

Day 5

Transit in Suez Canal, Egypt

Separating the continents of Africa and Asia, while connecting the Mediterranean to the Red Sea, the Suez Canal stands as a testament to the ingenuity and determination of a bygone era. Completed in 1869 and requiring no locks, the 120 miles of this sea-level passage offer travelers a kaleidoscope of contrasting vistas. As you glide through quiet waters, marvel at the lush greenery of the Nile Delta to the west and the sculpted desert landscape of the Sinai Peninsula to the east.

Day 6

Eilat, Israel

A favorite destination for Israeli families seeking a waterside escape, Eilat is a booming resort town – greened by palm trees and dotted with pools, it has an average of 360 sunny days a year and warm water temperatures. You’ll find some of the world’s best diving here, for experts and novices alike. Eilat is also renowned for birdwatching, camel riding, and visits to the biblical theme park called Kings City or Timna Valley Park, home to the world’s oldest copper mines.

Day 7

Eilat, Israel – Petra (Aqaba), Jordan | Disembark

Depart from Eilat and sailing to Petra (Aqaba) and disembark at Aqaba. End Journey

Situated at the top of its namesake gulf, Aqaba brings a refreshing release from the rose-colored desert to the north. Its sandy beaches and coral reefs are the most pristine on the Red Sea, and Jordanians hope to preserve them through careful planning. Beyond the modernity of Aqaba itself, the UNESCO treasure of Petra – an ancient rock-carved Nabataean city once lost to the Western world – and the wonders of the Wadi Rum await discovery.
