Athens is a sprawling city established among seven historic hills and surrounded by remarkable mountains. Inhabited for more than 3,000 years, Athens is widely known as the cradle of Western civilization and the birthplace of democracy.
During your stay in Athens, you can design your days with the following activities:
Athens Highlight City Tour
Visit Acropolis, where you will visit the architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: the Propylaea, the temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion, and the monument that “puts order in mind,” the Parthenon. Continue and visit the place where the statues found their home and admire the wonders of the classical era: The New Acropolis museum.
Greece, with its hundreds of miles of coastline, offers the opportunity to explore the treasures of the Aegean, even when in Athens. Join the amazing day excursion to the spectacular islands of the Saronic Gulf: Hydra, Poros and Aigina. Your first stop will be Hydra. Once there, explore its town, built amphitheatrically and decorated by traditional stone mansions, cobblestoned streets and secluded squares. It is the only island where all means of transportation are banned, relying solely on donkeys and water taxis. Enjoy leisurely strolls along the waterfront and the heart of the town, where you will admire a number of monuments, museums, old neighbourhoods and picturesque winding alleys. Have a cup of Greek coffee in one of the seaside cafes, before embarking the boat to the next island.
Next stop will be the little gem of the Saronic, Poros. Poros resembles a puzzle piece gone missing from the Peloponnese opposite. With its quaint taverns, yacht marinas, neoclassical buildings, unique clock tower, pine forests reaching the sea, serenity and relaxation. Poros invites you to discover its charming simplicity.
Last stop of this day cruise is the island of Aegina. Explore the picturesque town of Aegina with its antiquities and traditional taverns, a port town with a 19th-century atmosphere, deserted Byzantine chapels, pine-clad hills, and acres of pistachio orchards and mounds of freshly roasted pistachios.
Next you will continue your journey to Santorini.
